Bring a valid photo ID like a driver's license, passport, or state ID. If either person was married before, a certified divorce decree or death certificate for the former spouse is needed. Under O.C.G.A. § 19-3-1, both parties must be of sound mind and free of a prior un-dissolved marriage. All documents must be in English. If they are in another language, a certified translation is required at the Effingham County Probate Court.
