Fulton County has three Probate Court locations where you can apply for a marriage license and request marriage records. The main office is downtown at 136 Pryor Street SW. Two annex locations serve the north and south parts of the county. Each office can process marriage license applications and give out certified copies. Where you go depends on which part of Fulton County is most convenient for you.
The downtown location accepts cash. The two annex offices are cashless, so you must pay by credit or debit card at those sites. No American Express cards are accepted at any Fulton County Probate Court location. All fees are non-refundable. The Fulton County Probate Court is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Only the two applicants are allowed inside the office during the appointment. No guests, children, or other family members can come in with you.

Fulton County Marriage License Fees
The fee for a marriage license in Fulton County is $68.50. This price includes one certified copy that the court mails to the couple after the marriage is recorded. Couples who complete a qualifying premarital education course pay $28.50 instead. That is a savings of $40. O.C.G.A. § 19-3-30.1 sets this discount statewide. The course must be at least six hours long, done within 12 months before you apply, and led by a licensed counselor, therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, or active clergy member.
You must have the Certificate of Completion in hand at the time you apply at the Fulton County Probate Court. Copies, scans, or electronic versions do not count. The downtown office takes cash, credit, and debit cards. The North and South annex offices are cashless and take credit or debit only. No American Express at any location. All fees are non-refundable, even if you decide not to use the license.

Fulton County Marriage License Application
Fulton County requires you to complete your marriage license application online before coming to the court. Print the finished application and bring it with you. Both people must appear in person at one of the three Fulton County Probate Court locations. No exceptions. You can not send one person alone or apply entirely by mail.

One thing that sets Fulton County apart from most Georgia counties is that the marriage license does not expire. In most counties, a license is good for 60 days. In Fulton County, you can hold the ceremony at any time after you get the license. There is no rush to schedule the wedding. Georgia has no waiting period either, so you could get married the same day you pick up the license from the Fulton County Probate Court.
Fulton County Marriage License Requirements
Both people must be at least 18 years old under O.C.G.A. § 19-3-2. A 17-year-old can apply only with proof of emancipation, and 15 days must have passed since the court order was granted. The older party can not be more than four years older than the minor under O.C.G.A. § 19-3-36.
Bring a valid photo ID. The Fulton County Probate Court accepts a state-issued driver's license, state ID card, birth certificate (with certified translation if needed), passport, or military ID. If you were married before, bring a certified copy of the final divorce decree, annulment, or death certificate of the former spouse. Under O.C.G.A. § 19-3-1, both parties must be of sound mind and free from a prior un-dissolved marriage.

How to Get Fulton County Marriage Records
You can get certified copies of marriage records from the Fulton County Probate Court in person or by mail. Walk into any of the three offices, give the clerk the names and date of the marriage, and pay $10 per copy. Staff will search the files and print the record for you. Most requests are handled fast at the Fulton County courthouse.
For mail requests, send a Marriage Certificate Request Form along with a money order made out to the Fulton County Probate Court. No personal checks are accepted. Allow time for processing and mail delivery.
The Georgia Department of Public Health holds some marriage records from June 1952 through August 1996. For Fulton County marriages in that time frame, you can try the state office as well. The search fee is $10 and is non-refundable. For records before 1952 or after 1996, the Fulton County Probate Court is the only source.
After the Ceremony in Fulton County
The officiant signs the marriage license after the ceremony. They must mail the completed license to: Fulton County Probate Court, Attn: License Division, 136 SW Pryor Street, 2nd Floor C230, Atlanta, GA 30303. The court records the marriage and sends a certified copy to the couple. Allow up to 30 days for this.
If more than 45 days have passed and you still have not received your marriage certificate from Fulton County, email Probate.Licenses@fultoncountyga.gov to check on the status. For hyphenated names, you need both the marriage certificate and the marriage application on file at the Fulton County Probate Court.

The Georgia Department of Public Health keeps marriage records from June 1952 through August 1996. If a Fulton County marriage falls in that window, request a copy from the state Vital Records office at 1680 Phoenix Boulevard, Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30349. The fee is $10 per search, and extra copies cost $5 each when ordered at the same time. Walk-in visits can get same-day results. Mail requests take 8 to 10 weeks.
