Marriage Licenses in Montgomery County
Both people must come to the Montgomery County Probate Court in Mount Vernon together. Bring valid photo ID. A driver's license, passport, or military ID works fine. If either person was married before, bring the final divorce decree or a death certificate for the former spouse.
The license fee in Montgomery County is in the standard Georgia range of $56 to $77 without counseling. Couples who complete six or more hours of premarital education pay $16 to $37 per O.C.G.A. 19-3-30.1. The education must come from a licensed counselor or active clergy member. Montgomery County Marriage Rules
Both people must be 18 under O.C.G.A. 19-3-2. A 17-year-old can marry only with court-ordered emancipation. At least 15 days must pass after the order. The older person cannot be more than four years older per O.C.G.A. 19-3-36. Nobody under 17 can marry in Georgia.
Georgia residents can apply at any county probate court. You do not have to live in Montgomery County to get a license in Mount Vernon. If neither person lives in Georgia, apply in the county where the ceremony will take place. Foreign documents need a certified English translation.
After Getting Married in Montgomery County
